newbie questions

As a newbie I have many questions. So I thought I'd start a thread and post questions one at a time! I'd like to thank all responders in advance!

1st question: Does the home team get any advantage while simming a game?

Re: newbie questions

There is supposed to be a home field advantage and the long tests that I've run seem to bear this out. It averages somewhere between 1-2 pts for the home team (meaning that the home team will have an average score that is 1-2 pts greater than it would be when they are the visitor).

Re: newbie questions

I have simmed 200+ games (same team/same playbook) and found the home team does have a 1-2pt advantage. It would be nice to have an OFFICIAL statement confirming this. And if this is a fact, how was it done? I assume by some degree of increase to the home team's key player ratings and/or a drecrease in the visiting team's key ratings. Perhaps it would not be wise to release any details but I'm just curious.

2ND question

Does a player's position have an effect on his capabilities or does it simply depend on his ratings? For example; does a cornerback cover man-to-man better than a safety with the same exact ratings. I've seen some teams who use all safeties and no cornerbacks. Also I've read some suggestions to use a tight end in the backfield to block instead of a fullback because they block better. If a fullback has the same ratings won't he block just as good?

I'd appreciate any and all opionions or perhaps an official response!

Re: newbie questions

Player positions are what they do best.  attributes matter but some matter more than others.  As for what players do best.  Don't throw with anyone other than a quarterback.  Don't kick with anyone but a kicker.  Running backs run well, they also catch well but not as well as wide recievers.  Fullbacks are better pass blockers than tight ends.  Tight ends are better run blockers than full backs.  Defensive ends rush the passer best and nose tackles bullrush best.  Linebackers tackle better than cornerbacks.  etc.
