I don't have any problems watching it but I have it set fairly fast. It is possible you have the game on too slow where it is choppy on purpose. I would try speeding it up and seeing if that helps.
The [ and ] keys slow and speed the game a little; the { and } keys slow and speed the game a lot.
If I speed it up to the point that it is not choppy it is way too fast to follow. The animation needs to be more than two frames repeated every five yards.
I don't have any problems with the animation either. I have to say that I hope the new version doesn't go crazy with tyring to make the graphics the primary focus of the game. PMFB is first and foremost a coaching simulation.
It's not much of a simulation if the players can't be followed. The game does not accomidate the new high speed processors. The graphics don't need to be altered drasticly. Just a few extra frames would solve the problem.
It has nothing to do with the frame rate. It could be slowed down to one frame per second and it would still be a problem. The problem is that players move three or four yards with each frame. Take a HB draw up the middle for example. The hand off is the first frame. The second frame is the HB in the middle of a pile three yards up field. The third frame is the HB three yards right and two yards up field. This choppy motion makes it hard to follow. The change is not difficult to make and it would not effect the game play at all.

Have you tried accelerating the game speed?
