GETTING STARTED

HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS

To run PlayMaker Football™ you will need a computer with an Intel or Intel-compatible Pentium® processor or better, with at least 3 MB of memory, running Microsoft Windows 95®, Windows 98®, Windows NT®, Windows 2000®, or Windows XP®.

You will need approximately 5 MB free on your hard drive to install PlayMaker Football™.

If you want to print teams or playbooks you will also need to have a printer attached to your computer.


REGISTERING PLAYMAKER FOOTBALL™

When you first receive your copy of PlayMaker Football™, it is in an "unregistered" state and will only operate as a demo version. The demo version allows you to use the entire game, but several key features are disabled - saving a playbook or a team for example. To unlock the full feature set, you must register your copy of PlayMaker Football™.

Before you can register, you must obtain a key code. PlayMaker Software, Inc. will send a Key Code after receiving valid order information and payment from you. For details on sending your order information to PlayMaker, Inc., please see the last chapter, About Keyware.

Along with the Key Code, your User Name and a Personal ID will be sent to the address you provide.

IMPORTANT - WRITE DOWN YOUR USER NAME, PERSONAL ID, AND KEY CODE EXACTLY AS THEY APPEAR, YOU WILL NEED ALL OF THESE ITEMS TO REGISTER OR RE-REGISTER PLAYMAKER FOOTBALL™.

When you are ready to register PlayMaker Football™ select the Register PlayMaker Football... menu item under the Register menu. The following dialog will appear:

You will need to type in a User Name. This User Name is the name that the registration process will stamp onto your copy of PlayMaker Football™. After you type in your name, the dialog will produce a Personal ID. Your Personal ID is your confirmation that you are typing in your User Name exactly as we have it recorded. Be sure the Personal ID matches the one sent to you by PlayMaker Software, Inc.

Once you have entered your Key Code click Register and you will be ready to play!


STARTING PLAYMAKER FOOTBALL™

To jump right into PlayMaker Football™ and start playing, perform the following steps:

Click on the PMFB icon. At the title screen, select Game from the File menu.

Click the Visitors and Home pull-down menus, select Team... and choose two teams from the Teams & Playbooks folder.

Click the OK button to start the game.

USING THE PROGRAM

The following terms are used in the manual:

POINTER: The small arrow on the screen is used to "point" at things on the screen. The pointer is positioned by moving the mouse.

CLICKING Clicking refers to the action of moving the pointer over a portion of the screen and pressing and releasing the mouse button from the screen.

BUTTONS OR ICONS: These are circles or rounded rectangles with labels. You "click" on a button when you want to perform the action described by the label. Most windows have a default button which can be activated from the keyboard by pressing the Return or Enter key. Default buttons are indicated by the heavy border around the button.

SELECT: You select a menu item or icon by pointing at it and clicking.

MENU BAR: This is the strip across the top of the screen. Open a menu by pointing at a title and clicking. While holding down the mouse button, move the pointer down to the specific menu item you want to select. When the choice you want is highlighted, release the mouse button.

WINDOWS AND DIALOG BOXES: Often when you make a choice from a menu, a dialog box or window will appear on the screen. Some dialog boxes allow you to click on various buttons to change things. When you are done with a dialog box, click OK to continue. Some dialog boxes allow you to click Cancel to void the choices you just made.
